Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) is a research university located in Berlin, Germany. On 1 April 1879, the Technische Hochschule Charlottenburg (TH Charlottenburg) was established by a government merger between the Berlin Building Academy and the Royal Commercial Academy – two independent Prussian colleges established in turn. in 1799 and 1821. After Germany became the Weimar Republic, TH Charlottenburg was renamed “Technische Hochschule of Berlin” (TH Berlin).

Due to street riots that erupted at the end of World War II, the school was closed on April 20, 1945. The plan to reopen the school began on June 2, 1945.

Since 2009. TU Berlin has added two Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KIC), designed by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
